zooming in on the universe

Cover for Joren Brunekreef’s PhD thesis on quantum spacetime. The extremely complex theme made me urge for a very simple and concrete cover image to compensate. I finally chose for the image of a (typically Dutch) bicycle pump, which has something to do with 2D/3D and scale difference, two themes that are widely discussed in the work. At least, that is what I understood of it 😵‍💫
